Blue Soup

- Jazzy Balkan Latin Groove
One of London’s finest and most unique quartets, Blue Soup have a fresh and friendly new sound – upbeat swinging grooves, soulful jazzy songwriting, cheerfully downbeat lyrics, latin, balkan and eastern influences. The band was formed in 2004 and since then has worked hard writing, recording and gigging on the London circuit every few days. They’ve quickly established an excellent live reputation with their energetic and entertaining performances, being asked back to everywhere they’ve played, securing a number of residencies around the capital, and getting bigger and better gigs – headlining Raison d’Etre’s last showcase at the Jazz Café in Camden in April is only the latest recognition of their endeavours... Blue Soup are comprised of Graham on Vocals and Guitar – him of the huge, rich vocal cords and lush, rich guitar chords, Toby on Trumpet and other horns – astonishingly virtuoso multi-instrumentalist son of Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell of the legendary Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band, Mike on Double Bass and Fretless bass – the slick and driving power in the band, and Kostas – a rare talent and a superbly deft master drummer from Greece. With some weirder moments along the way - a mad dash to Italy to play a half-hour set, a few showbiz parties, an all-night jam with dance producer Larry Lush on keys and a string of benefit gigs - Blue Soup are building up a loyal following and some serious momentum. They are currently in the studio working on their second album and already have a few festival dates lined up for the summer.
