FOOLISH EARTHLINGS

- Foolish Earthlings
 ...Foolish Earthlings has arisen.

This mutant offspring of London's Gospel, Hard Rock, Jazz and Funk scenes is on a mission to defy categorisations, blow minds and shake rumps the world over.

Featuring gospel-soul singer Frank Kofi Owusu on vocals, hard rockin' Ryan Ansah on guitar, funkateer Syed Hossain on bass and groove-monster Dave Elliott on drums, the band's sound is a full-on assault on the funk genre, attacking it from all sides: jazz, soul and rock. If funk is their common language, Foolish Earthlings is the dirty word.

South London native and Foolish Earthlings bassist Syed was the mastermind behind UK Funk/Soul juggernaut THE SCORE. In autumn 2004 he began the two-year process of assembling a line-up which could realise his ambition of a funk band that rocks harder than anyone else and with more soul, and never plays it safe. Combining his devotion to ‘the almighty groove’ with a keen ear for killer hooks, Syed brings his well-honed playing and writing sensibilities to the band.

Also hailing from the South London neighbourhood of Streatham, guitarist Ryan reconnected with his childhood pal Syed over a shared love of music and a fearless approach to live performance. The latter skill was honed to a razor-edge when both Ryan and Syed did time in Jazz/Fusion collective Jazzistic, with whom they regularly performed gruelling 3 hour sets at their residency in London’s Soho district. Ryan has played with musicians of practically every genre, from Thrash Metal to Hip Hop, and this is clearly reflected in his freewheeling, balls-out guitar attack.

A holdover from the Score days with Syed, North-Londoner Frank complements the band with his rich, gospel-honed voice which imbues the music with a timeless quality, not to mention his natural charisma as a frontman. Having perfected his craft in the Gospel Church tradition for many years, his gifts have now been bestowed on the secular world – bringing that sweet n’ sour gumbo of angelic harmonies and southern-fried wails.

Drum prodigy Dave hails from Bournemouth, where he grew up in a family of percussion whizzes. Leaving home to study music, he developed a talent that floored Ryan and Syed the first time they jammed with him. He was immediately brought into the Foolish Earthlings fold, where he brings the requisite fire and stylistic flexibility that his bandmates demand.

You have been put on notice. Take heed, Foolish Earthlings...
