David and Heli met in 1976, when David was working as a telephone sanitiser at the Louvre, and Heli was selling kipper ties off a kiosk in the Champs-Elysées. They decided to work together as soon as they met, but as the internet had not yet been invented, they sat around smoking Gitanes, wearing polo-necks and trying to pass themselves off as intellectuals.
   When the kipper tie money ran out, they established themselves as a burlesque act and began to tour Europe. Unfortunately their act scaled new heights of unpopularity and, shamed, they returned to England to find new and unsuspecting audiences.
   However, the tension of their troubled careers had affected their relationship and, following a heated argument over the linguistic origins and original meaning of the phrase 'sailing close to the wind', they decided to work on solo projects. For 25 years they didn't speak and avoided news of each other.
   One day a Hairy Snake appeared to them both in their dreams and cajoled them into contacting one another. As they both chose the same time to call, there was a frustrating half-hour of engaged tones on both sides. Eventually, Heli decided to make a cup of tea, and David's call got through.
   Their alliance has been reformed, thanks to the Hairy Snake (see above), and this website is one of the results.

This is all, of course, completely untrue (except the bit about the website, we did make the website). Here are some things that are true: We are Heli and David. Neither of us were alive in 1976. We love working with Yvan+Crystal and everyone at Raison d'Etre cos we think they've got the important things right. The world is better when people work together.
   When it comes to web design, our focus is on making sites that work really well and are enjoyable to visit.
